They won titles and became Premier league legends, and now they are conquering the business world. I am of course talking about the members of the FA cup youth team that included Gary Neville, his brother Phil, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. Between them they own up and coming Salford City who are fast making their way through the non league divisions towards the football league proper. Gary Neville with business partner Ryan Giggs also built Hotel Football at Old Trafford. But now he is planning an even bigger project.
Gary’s plan is to create two skyscrapers, a 5* hotel and a spilt level public plaza in Manchester city centre just off Deansgate. The scheme could create more than a 1000 jobs and is believed to cost around £200m. It may not be all smooth sailing though as the plans have their critics, chief among them is concerns that the huge structures might dwarf other Manchester landmarks like the town hall and the library. But if Neville shows the same determination to complete this project as he showed on the pitch the plans look likely to come to fruition.
